Selena Gomez – Bad Liar – Single [iTunes Plus AAC M4A] (2017)

Selena Gomez Bad Liar

Selena Gomez Bad Liar

“Your touch like a happy pill / But still all we do is fear.”

Although fans have been enjoying Selena Gomez and Kygo’s hit collab “It Ain’t Me,” the Texas-born singer hasn’t dropped a proper solo single since her 2015 album Revival. Today, Gomez premieres the lyrics to her new song “Bad Liar” exclusively on Genius. It’s produced by Ian Kirkpatrick, who has worked on hits like Sage the Gemini’s “Now and Later” and Jason Derulo’s “Want to Want Me.” The track reunites Gomez with songwriters Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels, who worked extensively on Revival. “Bad Liar” interpolates Talking Heads‘ 1977 classic “Psycho Killer,” and is set to drop on all streaming services tomorrow.

On the song, Gomez sings about unrequited love:

I was walking down the street the other day
Trying to distract myself
Then I see your face
Ooh, you got someone else
Trying to play it coy
Trying to make it disappear
But just like the battle of Troy
There’s nothing subtle here

Later on, she croons:

Ooh you’re taking all perfection out my mind
Ooooh every time I watch you serpentine
I’m trying
Not to think about you
No no no

Selena Gomez is back, she’s on fire, and she swears she’s a bad liar.

Gomez teased “Bad Liar” Tuesday (May 16) and dropped the song in full at midnight. “With all my feelings on fire, guess I’m a bad liar,” she sings over a polished groove featuring rhythmic hand claps.
